Hormone Health Checks

A “hormone health check” is the next step at The Menopause Clinic after an in-depth and comprehensive consultation with Deborah Vines, which will cover your medical history, lifestyle factors, nutrition and health risks, as well as any other queries or concerns that you may have about the treatment. The health check itself will include a physical examination, followed by a set of blood tests, which assess your hormone and vitamin D levels.

What is a Hormone Imbalance?

Hormones are your body’s chemical messengers. These powerful chemicals are produced in your endocrine glands, and travel around your bloodstream telling tissues and organs what to do. Hormones help to control many of the major processes inside your body, including metabolism and reproduction. When you have a hormonal imbalance, you have either too much or too little of a certain hormone. Even if your hormones are slightly imbalanced, this can still have a serious effect throughout your body.

Additional Health Testing for Women

Additional tests for women may be recommended, which include: mammogram, ultrasound scan of the uterus, and a DEXA scan for bone density.

Additional Health Testing for Men

Additional tests for men may be recommended, which include: chest x-rays, MRI scans, and a DEXA scan for bone density.

Blood Tests

Initial blood tests will be carried out at The Menopause Clinic, but if extra testing is required then this may be referred subject to your needs and requirements. If the tests determine that you may benefit from BHRT, then Deborah will create a bespoke and custom-tailored treatment plan including hormones and supplements.
